New Artist Spotlight: Austin Webb
10:21AM February 26, 2013

From the opening notes of his debut single "It's All Good," it’s not hard to determine that newcomer Austin Webb grew up on a steady diet filled with not only country music but the soulful sounds of Motown and R&B as well. The likes of Joe Cocker, Otis Redding and Bill Withers serve as Austin's primary musical influences, but when it comes to songwriting, the Greenville, South Carolina native pinpoints Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan and Guy Clark as his heroes.

At the age of nine, Austin's love for authors Oscar Wilde, O Henry, Walt Whitman and Dylan Thomas turned into a new hobby of writing poetry. When he received his beloved Martin guitar 11 years later, Austin went from penning poems to crafting songs. After high school, he made ends meet by working odd jobs while he played shows on the East Coast.

After Austin suffered a bad breakup, Nashville beckoned and he headed to Music City on a whim. It proved to be one heck of a trip when fate granted him a random meeting with the legendary Charlie Louvin. Charlie invited Austin to open for him that same night at his show in Monteagle, Tennessee. The stars continued to align for Austin as he won a songwriting competition and made the move to Nashville. His demo soon found its way to famed producer Byron Gallimore which led to a music publishing deal and a recording contract with Streamsound Records.

Now, Austin kicks off his career with his uptempo single "It's All Good" which he wrote with buddy Jake Mitchell one morning after inspiration took hold. He explains, "I was inspired to write a song that was happy and exciting, but was not a party song.  It was then and how this song came to life.  It’s about being in love and not worrying about the mundane problems of life."
